Insanity...

Well, what an insane couple of weeks it's been - my boss handing over his job, preparing to hand over my own job and the minion's (to whom, we have no clue), a trip to Melbourne for... erm... important handover ten-pin bowling, the first dis_orientation gig for the UTS sound collective (oh, and finishing their website too!).

Now I'm heading into the last couple of weeks of uni and trying to focus on my Aesthetics essay and Audio Production major work as well as keep work humming along as calmly as possible... hmm. May be a sudden rash of short and incomprehensible posts. You have been warned...

New work info

I've added in The blood feud to the list of scores and recordings. There's likely to be a short delay in posting the sound file though as the original Flash file I use to create the soundfile players seems to have vanished in a puff of pixels. Still, redesign is on its way, to be deployed shortly, so I'd probably have had to remake them all anyway...

Stop me if you've heard this one before...

I'm going to England. Yes, I am. I know you probably won't believe me if you're familiar with my history in this area, but I am. I've resigned and everything, so it has to happen now. Treely-ruly, Auntie Bun.

It's been a fun-filled month, asking for 6 months' leave of absence, being turned down, working out when best to resign, investigating airfares, finishing my last year's tax and actually getting it to the accountant, not to mention actually handing in my notice.

On top of all that, I completed a score for an interactive narrative being made at the University of Bounemouth. Apart from the huge-stress timing and scary deadline, this was huge fun, and of course great to do something musical again. We decided to recycle my catharsis and haiku I into a new piece, and with the theme of the work being a murder, I decided a grittier sound - and so ProTools plugins :-) - was needed. The whole thing was somewhat dogged by technological mishap though - it seemed fairly doomed at one stage! Mislaid cables, a broken-down MiniDisc player, file incompatibilities, strange my-computer-only auto-restart undocumented feature in ProTools Free - all in all about 10 hours real work to about 20 hours wasted time. grrrr. But the result worked out quite well, and the client seems to be happy with the way it's going together, so all is well at last.

So it's been a very stressful month, I have to say, but certainly not dull! I'll be posting a section of the new work in the scores and recordings part of the site shortly...
