Merry Christmas all! and hoping for a very Happy New Year coming up tomorrow night.
Well, once again I've made it through Christmas and out the other side. It was touch & go there for a moment as I finished off the Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve, but I got through it in the end and everyone seemed to like their presents (I know I liked mine! see below...) and no returns required, which should be cause for rejoicing.
Well, it's very dull at work at the moment, with everyone away on holidays (I think there are at most 3 people [including me] on our floor), so what better way to combat the holiday blues than the post-Christmas sales? I went a little mad & bought myself one of the great culinary devices of the modern age - an ice-cream maker. A true luxury, completely extravagant, I know, but I'm getting sick of the endless lemon/wildberry sorbet flavours in the supermarket (I'm off dairy for the moment - a long and tedious story which I won't go into) and need to branch out. So hello peach, cherry, apricot, watermelon, mango and any one of a thousand marvellous fruity flavours, hurrah!
But the most exciting of all my Christmas presents has to be the present from my mother - a record turntable! At long last! So now I can finally revisit all my Shostakovich recordings, my complete Bartok string quartets, complete orchestral music of Debussy and Faure, a multitude of Berlioz large-scale choral and operatic works (yes, including the complete recording of Les Troyens) which have been trapped on vinyl records for the past few years, and me without a player to play them on. No longer though, heh heh...
Not much more to report. I've been staving off empty-office boredom by an occasional browse around some designery sites, revisiting Kaliber 10000 and flip flop flyin' and having a wander around another project by k10k developers Cuban Council, Moodstats, all of which have been filling in the blank spaces in my day somewhat (oh, and work, of course...)
Anyway, trying to psych myself up for 2004 now! I'm anticipating exciting things for the new year, but won't tell you what they are yet - you'll just have to come back and check up on me :-)
Happy New Year!
