Now with added MX!

It's been a while since I last updated this, largely because I've been rather short on time lately. Last month I took delivery of the new Macromedia MX Studio software package, giving me the latest versions of Macromedia's web software Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash, and also their answer to Adobe's Illustrator - Freehand. This semester at uni I'm studying Flash animation, which is proving very enjoyable - good to focus on animation as my Flash experience so far has been principally with the interactive & programming aspects of the programme rather than the visual possibilities.

Also in March, I took on an unusual copying project - copying a Webern piece into MIDI to be manipulated and used as part of a new artwork. A very interesting project - I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

My vocal piece Red drops, scarlet heat will be receiving its premiere in May. First rehearsals have gone well, and I hope to be able to put a recording of this on the site shortly after the performance. Progress has been a little slow on publishing this work, but designs have been completed, so final typesetting is the only thing left to do. This should also be available soon.

I have started preliminary work on a three-part piano piece based on the theme of 'night and nature', looking at an urban Australian's idea of the intersection of these. The working title, at present, is Nightbeasties.

Finally, of course, Happy Easter to all! May the bunny have been kind to you.
