Oops - seems I wrote up my last journal entry & didn't actually get around to posting it, so this month I guess I'll just have to include November's news too.
The biggest news is that I have been offered Associate Representation status at the Australian Music Centre - so very shortly you will be able to borrow the music (and recordings) of several of my pieces from their Library.
The ABC have kindly sent me a copy of Topology's performance of my Pieces of Eight which they performed at Mini[]Max in Brisbane in August this year. Unfortunately, I can't use this on this website, but the ABC have granted me permission to use it on the CD I will be lodging in the AMC's library, so if you're interested to hear it, that will be the place to look - I'll be posting details here when I send in my scores & CD to the library.
My most recent article, 'Down the rabbit hole: Martin Wesley-Smith, David Del Tredici and the influence of Lewis Carroll' was published in the 2MBS-FM programme guide in October, so I'll be adding the full text of it into this site shortly.
My news for December so far is that I have just finished writing a Christmas carol to some lovely words written by my father. It's quite traditional in mood, think of carols such as the Sussex Carol ("On Christmas night all Christians sing...") or Torches and you'll get the drift. It will be receiving its premiere performance in a couple of weeks, and I'll be posting either a recording (if I get a decent one at the premiere) or the text on this site shortly.
Things are getting busier & busier now, as they tend to do as the year draws to a close, and I doubt that I'll get back to this journal before January - so have a marvellous Christmas & a very Happy New Year!
