Entranced by Michael Gordon

The year is galloping ahead at full throttle, it seems, with projects, projects everywhere. On Friday I'm off to Brisbane for the Mini[]Max festival, mentioned in last month's web journal, which will now include a performance of my Pieces of Eight in a specially created arrangement for Topology. If you live in Brisbane, it's going to be on the last night of the festival - 10pm at the Brisbane Powerhouse - come along!

I'm also in the throes of finishing a new piece for female voices (as yet untitled), based on Walt Whitman's poem 'Trickle drops' from Leaves of Grass, and about to start in on a series of three songs for counter-tenor and piano for a concert series planned for November.

On the listening front, I've recently rediscovered a CD which I've had for a couple of years but for some reason never listened to much - now that I have started listening to it, I'm a complete convert to Michael Gordon's Trance, recorded by Icebreaker on Decca Argo. Highly recommended!

You may have also noticed a change about this site - yes, Aubade Music Services is no longer - due to a change in focus over the years, and to the name Aubade being trademarked, we are now "Minim Music & New Media".
