Welcome to the corporate world...

A shorter web journal this time - in November I started a full-time job at PricewaterhouseCoopers, working on their website, which has proved to be an eye-opener - how very different the corporate world is to the Arts! I feel quite at sea often, but am learning so much, including JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets.

Sites I'm spending a lot of time on for work include the World Wide Web Consortium's site, the accessibility-rating site Bobby, and Netscape's JavaScript resource site, DevEdge Online. A significant find has been the design-inspiration site k10k.com, a marvellously fascinating collection of graphics, discussions and links (which I have just discovered will be offline until about September. oh well - I'll feature it again later).

I've been to a couple of excellent performances recently - first Cirque du Soleil, which lives up to its not inconsiderable reputation & is playing now in the Big Top opposite Fox Studios in Sydney - not to be missed. The second was the opening performance of the C21 New Music Festival, run by students in the Sydney Uni Department of Music. The Festival opened on Friday night with a complete performance (24hrs) of Erik Satie's Vexations. I managed to get along to it for the last four and a half hours - next time, hopefully, I'll be able to hear the full 24! The Festival is running mostly on Thursday nights at venues at Sydney Uni until 6 September.
