Montpellier performance! CD release!

It's been a while since I updated this - and you may be wondering why. Well, for those who don't know (and it feels like the whole music community of Sydney knows now!) I have had glandular fever for the past four months. Yup - redesigned this site, then promptly keeled over and have been pretty much 'offline' (as it were) ever since. So not an awful lot has been happening at Aubade recently.

The Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy site is finished and up, for those who want to visit it. This required a fair amount of research into web accessibility, which yielded a heap of little-known facts (did you know that rollover effects can cause fits in epileptics?) which I'm sure will come in handy in projects to come.

The 11th Sydney Spring International Festival of New Music site has also been finished. If you're in Sydney, I urge you to go along to this fabulous event (it's on right now!) and last year's programme is shortly to be archived in the archives of the New Music Network's site.

On the print side of things, I have recently completed my first CD cover - for Colin Bright and Amanda Stewart's The Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior, which has been released on CD by Vox Australis (AKA the Australian Music Centre). AMC have also released Jeanell Carrigan's latest CD of post-1970 Australian solo piano music, Hammered, which includes my piano piece Shimmer. I'll be posting reviews when (if) I find them. I've also had my first overseas performance: Ensemble Decadanse (France) performed Pieces of Eight (ensemble version) as part of their day-long extravaganza '2000 pieces for the year 2000' in Montpellier at the end of May.

But I haven't been wasting my time off work - in the past few months I have added Macromedia's Flash 4 to my arsenal of web tools and will soon be using it on this site. In the middle of all this, I have also gone back to uni - the Graduate Diploma in Design course at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) - which so far is proving to be very interesting.

Projects on the boil: Only one real in-progress at the moment - assisting Sally Macarthur in preparing her forthcoming book for the publishers, which is involving obtaining copyright permissions, layout and the like. Apart from that, just preparations for the Olympic onslaught (I shan't have anywhere to live for the duration so I'm escaping to Melbourne for a couple of weeks at the end of September) and trying to fathom the New Tax System.
