Offered associate representation status as a result of assessment of submitted compositions by a panel of stylistically sympathetic composers.

Music Arrangers' Guild of Australia - Accredited music copyist (from 1999)

Accepted as a copyist member using Finale. MAGA no. 398

Graduate Diploma in Design

University of Technology, Sydney (2000-2005)

Graduated with Distinction.

Elective subjects included New Media Aesthetics, Introducing Audio Production and Internet Design (Flash).

Screen composition seminar

Australian Film Television and Radio School (1998)

Selective three-day intensive course led by Jan Preston. Precursor of AFTRS' current screen composition degree course.

Bachelor of Music (Honours) - Composition major

University of Sydney (1991-1995)

Composition tuition with Professor Peter Sculthorpe (1992-1995) and Professor Eric Gross (1991).

Elective subjects included Stravinsky Seminar, Palaeography, Mediaeval Spanish Music, Italian, English.

Honours research paper, Satie the Neoclassicist, overseen by Professor Peter Sculthorpe.

Central Queensland University (through Open Learning Australia) (1996)

Two subjects completed - Programming 1A and Fundamentals of Computer Hardware - with High Distinctions gained in both.

Professional experience

Web design/development

Raspberry Blue Ltd (2007- )

Short-term contracts through own limited company, interspersed with periods of composition and work on own projects. Most recently, completed a contract for Imperial College, working on their e-learning system.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (Australia, UK, Global firms) (2000-2005)

Worked on public sites and intranets for the Australian, UK and Global firms. Landmark projects included clevercompanies.com.au (design/development), Global Migration Project (assisting firms around the world to migrate to a new design for pwc.com) and project-managing a reworking of the UK firm's online visual identity.

Harvest Communication (freelance client)

HTML, CSS, JavaScript coding and Flash development for provided designs for sites including palmbeachinsydney.com and dermatech.com.au

Australian Music Centre (1998-2000)

Redesigned the Centre's website, improving site architecture and bringing the look of the site into line with the Centre's recently-implemented offline visual identity. Ongoing maintenance, hand-coding HTML, image preparation, writing/adapting existing content for the web.

Currency Press (freelance client)

Redesigned website, tying the new design in with existing print materials. Reworked code to bring into line with then-current best practices. Hand-coded HTML, image preparation.

New Music Network (freelance client)

Designed websites for a number of NMN members, including Sydney Spring Festival and Machine for Making Sense

Georges Lentz (freelance client)

Taught composer Georges Lentz the basics of maintaining his own webpages. This involved setting up the site using his own designs and showing him how to update and expand it. He has since gone on to teach himself more about web development and expand his site significantly.

Editorial, music copying and other services

Australian Music Centre (1996-2000)

Held a number of positions at the Centre, starting as Project Officer on the NFRAM website project, then becoming Shop Manager and finally Publications Co-ordinator and Webmaster (see above). As Publications Co-ordinator (from 1998), was responsible for the writing, editing, QA, layout, pre-press and printing of Centre publications including Sounds Australian journal and the bi-monthly AMC Update.

Australasian Performing Right Association (freelance client)

Wrote an expert-witness musicological report for use in a copyright dispute.

Australian Music Centre (freelance client)

Created musical examples, typeset scores and wrote and edited text for education kits.

Bravo! magazine (freelance client)

Concert review writer.
